Universal Sculpture Hub is proud to announce the promotion of Farhana Bhula to the position of Head of Creative. Farhana joined the organisation in 2019 as a development executive and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the creative slate across both feature film and short film programmes.

We sat down with Farhana to discuss her new role, her approach to creative leadership, and what she sees on the horizon for Universal Sculpture Hub.

Congratulations on the promotion, Farhana. What does this role mean to you personally?

"It means everything. I came to Universal Sculpture Hub because I believed in what it stood for — a commitment to voices that don't always get amplified, stories that take risks. Being trusted to lead creatively is a huge responsibility, and I don't take it lightly."

How would you describe your creative philosophy?

"I want to champion work that is specific. The more specific a story is — the more rooted in a particular place, person, or feeling — the more universal it becomes. That is the paradox I keep coming back to."

What can audiences expect from Universal Sculpture Hub in the coming years under your direction?

"Ambition. We are not here to make safe bets. We are here to back the films that need to exist — the ones that are hard to categorise, that surprise you, that stay with you long after the credits roll."

Farhana takes up her new position with immediate effect. The organisation wishes to formally thank her predecessor for their outstanding contribution over the past decade.
